Ahilan Anantha Krishnan is a Masters student in the department of Aerospace Engineering at IIT Bombay. He received his bachelor degree in aeronautical engineering from Anna University, Tirunelveli.

He is currently working on his master?s thesis on "Comprehensive Evaluation of Modular TKA Prosthesis". The goal is to provide prosthesis customized for individual patients, yet ensure its safety and reliability.

He is the structures lead in Team Rakshak, IIT Bombay. His interests include computational solid mechanics and mechanical behavior of biological materials.

Total Knee Arthroplasty Prosthesis currently serves as a solution for osteoarthritis. Imported prosthesis when used in Indian patients causes abnormalities as the anatomical difference in the knee size. A modular design will help in fine adjustments of dimensions of individual components.

Development team includes Ahilan, IIT Bombay and Dr. Vijay Shetty, Hiranandani Hospital, Mumbai.

Current status: The device has been manufactured with the static evaluation in FEA presently completed. Dynamic testing in FEA is underway.

Patent Filed: A.Ahilan, R. Ghyar, V. Shetty, B. Ravi, " Modular Total Knee Arthoplasty Prosthesis".
