This online application is a down-scaled demonstration of the nationally acclaimed and patented technology named as XrayTo3DTM which is the world's first web-based software to generate 3D model of bones from their 2D X-ray images. This technology is being commercialized by AlgoSurg Pvt Ltd.

I am Vikas Karade, B.Tech and PhD from IIT-Bombay. I finished my B.Tech and in mechanical engineering from IIT-Bombay in the year 2010.
After quitting my job (in 3 months :D) I came back to IIT in the year 2011 and started working with Prof. B.Ravi at OrthoCAD lab in the field of 3D visualization and instrumentation for orthopedic applications.

This project includes development of an algorithm to generate 3D model from 2D X-ray image. There are different configurations of the algorithm according to the number of X-ray images, accuracy required and the information available. In this website the simplest configuration which takes only frontal (Medial-Lateral) X-ray image of knee joint bones as input is demonstrated.
The advanced configuration involves shape learning algorithms for more accuracy.

To view the generated 3D model by my algorithm, a 3D object viewer has been taken from JSC3D project and modified according to the requirements. Thanks to Onkar and Maxwell for their tips in server side programming :).
